This is a book that was first published in 1983 (the same year I was born!). The edition that I read, however, was the 2nd edition, published in 1996 by Baker Books. A friend loaned me the book after I found it when browsing his household library. He has since given me his copy!
I should probably mention that this is not a "light read". It takes a lot of time to work through each chapter. I expect to read this book a few more times in the coming years, if only because there is so much to be taken from it that I could not possibly retain it all with just one read.
A few months ago, I was blessed to hear a few sermons preached by a man named Paul Washer, who is the director of a ministry called HeartCry Missionary Society.
But I personally want to recommend their video page, where you can see 5-15 minute clips of sermons on various topics. Paul is not your average preacher, and his messages are likely to challenge you A LOT! But it is highly recommended.

On May 18th, 2008, I gave my first sermon on Mathew chapter 7, begining with Verse 13. I have watched Paul Washer's video sermon at the youth conference, and was shaken by the anoiting of the holy spirit with this sermon. I have listened to it at least 10 times....and each time I thank God for his grace, his mercy, and his servent Paul Washer. Christ, through Paul Washer has allowed me to come to grips with a 27 year addiction to alcohol. Praise the Lord, I am healed. Praise his Holy name. Thank you Jesus for your servent Paul Washer, and teaching me that there is more to being a christian than just saying a prayer.

I think I appreciate more than anything Paul's sincerity and willingness to simply say it like it is, straight from God's Word. That is the preaching that the Holy Spirit annoints!

The Lord our God is really using this man to get the REAL Gospel across. To hear him preach almost is strange, but it is truth. Many preachers are scared to preach the truth today. What did Paul say in Galatians 1:8? But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. So a half truth is just as bad as a lie. I pray that our LORD JESUS will continue to use this man and myself in such a capacity to bring honor to HIM and HIM ONLY!

as 58 year old man, 34 of the years as a Christian, I asked God whom does he have to step out among the many man centered gospel preahers we have today & give us someone who would step out and preach a God centered gospel. since the Paris Riedheads, Tozers and Leonard Ravenhills have gone to be with Lord, I'am glad God lead me to Paul Washer, I know Paul would say he not worthy enough to be mention along side of these men. the only way these men were great in the Lord, was they were humble men, humble men recieves great grace from our great Lord. amen!

Thank Jesus Christ for this man. He has inspired me the most out of all preachers. I have learned so much from him. Preachers at my church are to scared to preach the real Gospel, but this man says it all how it is and straight forward. God bless

Bless be your message for the Youth , it gave me answers because God changed and make my life style like the real Christian life style has to be.And i'm really s Just so grateful with God for that... i cant describe it...
I started having my doubts yesterday because an old lady told me "what ? are you a monk or something ?" and then i started to see all the persons around me..and you know how the devil works.always trying to Brake you down. and weeks ago a friend from my infance posted me this video the "Message for the Youth"of Paul washer .
i saw it 1...2..3..times i couldnt stop, because this preach was made on 2002...
we are at 2009 and i saw till yesterday just when i needed answers... i ask for answers to God, and God gave me answers through his servent Paul Washer with this preach 7 years later of its make..
I Just cant describe how inlove of God i am ..
He stood up for me , he saved me from everything..
he saved me from drug addiction!, he saved me from a meaningless life , filled with
alcohol, drugs , weman,pornography i dont know what else and how to call it !
and i dont say it proudly i was a Christian doing the Fathers will ... BUT living in the world , smelling like the world,dressing like the world doing everything that the world do !....
till he saved me .. he really make me new creature... he make me humiliate before Him, filled me with repentance ... i FELT when God JUST CRUSHED my heart ! in little pieces..one by one... and after that.. i felt.. when he gave me a TOTALLY BRAND NEW HEART !!! ... it mas just amazing ... and the most amazing thing is that it has last .. day ..after.day..after day.. and i WANT to Keep it that way.. and I know ..that Jesus will lead me on his way .. to walk with him...to talk like him and act like him..everywhere anywhere..anytime...
I'm Just 22 years old... and i'm proud of turning my life to JESUS in every sense and do the Fathers Will like it has to be done...
That God bless all the people around you and give you health and prosperity in everything you might do..Amen.
