Believe it or not, the word Thanksgiving has also been translated into Chinese. Gan’En Jie is how it is pronounced.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day. Even over here in Asia’s Highlands, we will be celebrating Turkey Day. The main difference over here is that we won’t actually be eating turkey (chicken is the closest thing to turkey around here) and there will be no football on the local tv stations.

Actually, we won’t be doing anything special on Thanksgiving Day at all. We are going to have a Mexican Thanksgiving tonight (the night before Thanksgiving) by eating tacos that were made by our Mexican brother Ishmael.

And on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, we are going to eat Brazilian chicken with a bunch of other friends in a nearby city. There will be as many Brazilians at the table that day as there will be Americans.

In the midst of all our feasting, whether Mexican Tacos, American Turkey, or Brazilian Chicken, lets not forget why this day exists in the first place. This is a day not just to enjoy the fellowship of friends and eat food … but to thank God for all his blessings upon us, great and small.
