More Visa Troubles
Once again, the very unreliable “authorities” of this great nation have given us something to pray about!
This time, it is not my family’s residence permits that are in question, but those of our 3 Latino (2 Mexican, 1 Peruvian) co-workers. They went today to the city that is supposed to be in charge of giving them their residence permits, but were turned away rather rudely and told to go to the provincial capital where they would be told what to do.
So the 3 of them are scheduled to arrive in the provincial capital within the hour (Monday, 9 pm), and will be going first thing in morning to the provincial “authorities” office to see what is up with their visa situation. They honestly aren’t sure if they are going to be told “sorry, we aren’t going to renew your visa”, or, “here, no problem, we just wanted to double check with you that everything was going ok”.
The most likely reason for this troublesome situation is simply because we reside in a very “tense” region with a lot of minority people that the government is afraid might continue to cause unrest. In this type of situation, China is most comfortable with simply telling outsiders to “get lost”, because they are afraid of any press leaks that might occur.
So please pray for our co-workers and this situation!
