Praying the Bible
I listened to this short little book, Praying the Bible by Donald Whitney, a few days ago (the audio version is only two hours long) and I was immediately helped by its simple, sensible, scriptural practicality. Whatabook!
I don’t think it is a coincidence that one of the primary things that this book encourages is quite similar (albeit not identical) to something I just recently began doing in my own devotional times. I have recently begun to re-write certain verses from the Psalms as my own personal prayers. As you read this book, you will understand how close that comes to matching up with the author’s central thesis.
If you are like me, you won’t make it half-way through this book before you begin making plans to teach its lessons to your family, congregation, etc. I immediately began to think of all the pastors (here in Peru) who I want to share it with.
In fact, just today I purchased 18 more copies (in Spanish) to give away to certain ministry leaders and pastor friends of mine here in Peru.
I’m sure that at some point I will probably also summarize and teach the lessons taught in this book to many churches and believers here who (like me) often struggle to persevere in prayer.
