Day 1 of this trip was chronicled in the last blog. Day 2 was a day of rest and catching up with old friends. We didn’t really go anywhere, but we had dinner and fellowshipped with a family of fellow workers.
Today was Day 3. Dad and I left at just after 6 this morning on another marathon trip across the Plateau. We arrived around 9:30 p.m. here in the middle of nowhere and are now checked into a very dodgy hotel. Today we drove 500 miles (830 kilometers) across nearly a dozen mountain passes. More than 6 hours of today’s journey was spent on highways driving at elevations above 14,000 ft.
My Dad had a little bit of a rough time while we were up at 14,000+ elevation. He had a bit of a headache and his stomach didn’t feel well. But after dropping down to a tropical and balmy 12,000 ft here in our destination city for the day, he is feeling much better! 12,000 feet above sea level never felt so low!
Tomorrow will take us farther up and in as we continue this week-long journey. We really aren’t sure yet exactly what route we will be taking, so please pray that we would have wisdom in deciding. Also pray that we would be able to share the Gospel all along the way!
