In just 53 minutes, I will be getting on a bus to take a trip that I have taken over a dozen times before.
The trip begins at an elevation of around 7,000 ft. We then spend about 12 hours climbing up to a high elevation of 16,800 ft. Finally we slowly drop back down to 12,200 as we reach our final destination over 600 miles and 18 long hours from where we started.
Luckily for us, the bus is equipped with beds, although the beds are not made for anyone over 5 ft. 10 inches tall or who weighs over about 200 lbs. There is barely room to turn from side to side and your feet are jammed up into the bed in front of you. I don’t have a picture handy (i am in an internet cafe) or I would post one for everyone to get a better idea of what I am talking about.
Please pray for us (myself and 2 of our Latin American missionaries) on this trip. We have a lot to do and it is likely to still be quite cold. I just checked the temps online for one of the towns we will pass through and today’s high is 32 degrees farenheit. The low is 22!
