After arriving in southern Malaysia yesterday evening, everything looked on schedule for our departure this morning by bus to the beaches of northern Malaysia. But I was woken up at about 7 a.m. by one of our guys saying that Noel was in severe pain in his groin, the same place where he had been hurting before with what they considered to be Chronic Appendicitis. This time it looked like the pain was much more acute and severe.

I immediately got dressed and jumped in a taxi with him and one of the other guys to go to the nearest hospital emergency room. They have decided that it is Acute Appendicitis and they need to operate as soon as possible. Right now Noel is waiting in the hospital together with his other two missionary companions. He is still in severe pain and just wants them to operate and get it all over with.

We had been planning to take Noel to a hospital here in Malaysia to have him checked out once again and possibly have the appendix removed, but this was quite a surprise. He had been feeling quite well for a number of weeks.
