We have not been given the spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and of a sound mind.
Fear is such a common thing in so many of our lives that I think we have all but become accustomed to it. But fear is not an option for a Christian. There is nothing in Scripture that gives us the right or a reason to be fearful about ANYTHING.
As Christians we are faith-filled, not fearful.
I often find myself feeling fear of some situation or something that ‘might’ happen, like a car accident or something. But that fear does not feel natural to me. We were not made to live with fear. Fear cripples and it keeps us from doing things that otherwise need to be done.
Sure, by feeling afraid we might decide not to do something that is legitimately dangerous… we might even ‘save’ our own life in the process.
But that is not a true victory in God’s book. Our victory is not in delaying our death on this earth. Our victory comes daily, as we walk in faith and obedience. Not everything God has called us to do will be safe or easy. Fear will often cripple us in our walk with Christ, because the valleys we will certainly face are deep, dark, and dangerous.
We must choose to walk in faith, no matter what the outcome may be.
Death is the thing most often feared on this earth. But even death has no sting for a Christian. The most fearful thing for an unregenerate human, death, is the moment where the Christian’s faith will actually become sight!
Fear is not an allowed emotion for the Christian. Let’s put fear behind us, and walk in true faith!
