Open Door in Bangladesh

I am more than two weeks into my whirlwind trip around North America and I have had many amazing experiences thus far and dozens of divine appointments. It has been a really encouraging time. I’m currently in the Dominican Republic spending some long-overdue time with a few of my best friends in the world and trying to get caught up on all the sleep that I’ve missed out on during my previous few weeks of travel.

Jackie Davis
is one of the really amazing people that I met for the first time on this trip. At my parents’ recommendation (they heard her speak at their church about her call to missions) I contacted Jackie and ended up being able to meet her and talk for a few hours last Thursday afternoon.

Jackie has been all over the world in the past year or so in preparation for a life of missionary service. Her travels and training have taken her to Peru, South Africa, and Asia. Interestingly enough, the one country that she least wanted to visit in Asia ended up being the place where God has called her and given her the most passion to go and serve: Bangladesh.

However, due to the very sudden and unexpected illness and death of her future ministry partner, Joy Bausum, just a few weeks ago, Jackie is currently waiting on God and praying that He would raise up a new partner who can accompany her to work in the unreached community near Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.

The following is Jackie’s own plea for someone to come and lay down their life in service of Jesus Christ so that His Name might be glorified among the unreached people of Bangladesh. Please feel free to link to this post or pass it along in whatever way you can. Only God knows where the person(s) is that He is preparing to take Joy’s place. And at the very least, please pray for Jackie and consider giving to help send her on her way!

Open Door in Bangladesh

Billions of people are searching to find the Truth, they just have not heard, that Jesus Christ is the only way.  Do you have a yearning to be used by God to impact the unreached for the Kingdom?  When we think of Muslims, many of us think of the Middle East, right?  Actually, there are more Muslims in Asia than anywhere in the world.  Bangladesh, located in South Asia, is in need of those who have a passion to see children, teenagers, and whole families come to know Jesus Christ.

In a country that is 98.4% unreached, World Missions Ministries is looking for radical life changers to serve at a boarding school in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The Holiness Academy completes its third year of operation in November 2010.

Over 100 children from the local community are enrolled in the school, most from Muslim families. In addition, there are over fifty boarding students from families in remote villages where there are no schools. There is an opportunity to teach in the school as well as to help out with aspects of caring for the boarding students.  There have also been doors opened with the high school nearby.  The Youth Association has given us access to build relationships with 150 high schoolers in the community who are eager to come, fellowship, and learn.

When asked what these teenagers hoped the school could provide for them, and they responded, “We want to be transformed so that we can in turn transform our nation.”

Also there is a need to teach and mentor young pastors and church planters at the Bangladesh Bible Institute.  In only a few years this Bible College has served in sending out pastors and planting 35 churches, in the next 15 years, we are praying to see 500 churches planted throughout Bangladesh!

Outreach is growing with our Women’s Association and the planning of a Coffee House Ministry to build relationships and lay a foundation for a hopeful future.  So whether you are looking for short-term or long-term missions, pray about coming to Bangladesh to be used by God to instill Jesus’ love and truth in the hearts and minds of these people.
