12 hours, 350 miles, and literally dozens of mountain passes later, we have made it half-way to our primary destination.
I am very tired, not only from driving mountain roads all day long, but also for the fact that I just got 4 hours sleep last night. We decided to stop for the night a little earlier than I had originally planned, so that I could get some good rest before driving another 350+ miles tomorrow.
Stopping early has turned out to be an ok thing. We are currently in a Tibetan town that I have never before visited. It is a long town, built along a single business avenue, situated in the middle of a high-altitude valley at about 12,000 ft. Snowcapped mountains with grassy green slopes surround the valley. Tomorrow we will pass near the highest mountain within about 1,000 miles of here. The peak is nearly 22,000 feet above sea-level!
This region is home to the Golog Tibetan people group. As far as I know, there has never been an established church among these people. Please pray for this town and its inhabitants!
