I want to thank all of you who have been praying for Christian! He was finally granted permission to depart Hong Kong and he is currently sitting at the airport in Auckland, New Zealand awaiting the departure of the 2nd leg of his journey home to Peru.

Christian flew this morning from Hong Kong to New Zealand. From New Zealand, he flies to Buenos Aires, Argentina. And from Buenos Aires, it is only a 4-5 hour flight home to Lima, Peru. I just received an e-mail from him in New Zealand, and he says everything is going smoothly thus far.

When I talked to him on the phone last night, just hours before his scheduled departure time, he still had not been told by the immigration authorities in Hong Kong that he was being allowed to leave. He was in tears as I told him that I had already purchased his tickets about 12 hours earlier and that he would finally be leaving within just a few hours.

Christian was originally scheduled to arrive home in Peru late in the evening on Wednesday, October 1st. Because of all the delays, he is now going to arrive home late in the evening on Tuesday, October 7th (tomorrow night).

All told, Christian will have spent about 75 hours in transit between Hong Kong, London, New Zealand, Argentina, and Peru. In the middle of all that flying and waiting around in airports, he has also spent 5 1/2 days in lockdown behind security at Hong Kong International Airport without even one extra change of clothes.

Please continue to pray for Christian as he goes about transitioning back into life in Peru! His current plans are to go to culinary school to get a professional certification in that field. Christian loves to cook and he has served on the mission field these past couple years as the primary cook at our ministry-funded cafe that provides us with the platform we must have to be able to live and share the Gospel in the foothills of Tibet. Christian hopes to come back and join us on the mission field once again in the not-so-distant future. Please also pray that this recent situation would not scare him away from ever leaving home again.

— We are still accepting donations on behalf of Christian to help pay for items that were lost in this recent fiasco and also just to bless him as he is getting ready to attend culinary school. If you would like to donate (thanks to those of you who already have!!!), please see my first blog entitled “Trapped in Hong Kong” for more info. Thanks!
